How To Grow Chinese Cabbage
Sow seeds directly outdoors from late spring to early Autumn, seedling transplanted into the garden may be shocked into bolting. Grow Chinese cabbage in open soil or raised garden beds in full sun in cool regions, and in partial shade in hot regions. Sow seeds around 1cm deep 30cm(12in) apart in deep, well-drained soil rich in organic matter such as compost or manure.
Keep soil weed-free and water regularly, especially before a drought or dry spells. Fertilisers are optional but if you want the best results feed with an all-purpose fertiliser. Cut whole heads at soil level 8-9 weeks after sowing.
